How does my son try out for the Carolina Miners?

Pre-register through LeagueApps for your grad year's session, then attend at R.C. Bradford Park in Huntersville. Tryouts are free, but pre-registration is required. Every player is evaluated through the same six criteria by multiple evaluators.

Who can try out?

Boys in the classes of 2032, 2033, and 2035, all positions. Attend the session for your grad year. MS Travel (grads 2032 / 2033 Yellow) and Futures (grad 2035). Class of 2028–2031 or 2034 — message us and we'll point you to Team Carolina.

Where are tryouts held?

R.C. Bradford Park · 17005 Davidson-Concord Rd, Huntersville, NC. Both nights are at Bradford. Check-in opens 30 minutes before each session — arrive gear-ready.

What's the cost to try out?

Free to attend. Pre-registration through LeagueApps is required so we have accurate rosters and can send you tryout confirmations and post-tryout communication.

When do we hear about roster placement?

Roster offers go out by email within days of tryouts. The offer includes the final tuition figure and your payment-plan options in writing. Selected players have a short window to accept before spots may be offered elsewhere.

What should we bring?

Stick, helmet, gloves, shoulder & arm pads, mouthguard, cleats (turf shoes as a rain backup), and water. Goalies bring full goalie equipment — chest protector, throat guard, and goalie stick.

What does Carolina Miners cost?

Two paths, same team either way. Full-Year (Fall + Winter + Spring + Summer): HS Travel ~$3,495, MS Travel ~$3,300, Futures ~$1,795. Fall + Summer bundle for families who want the two core competitive seasons only: HS Travel ~$2,895, MS Travel ~$2,700, Futures ~$1,295. Three ways to pay: Pay in Full (save 5%), 6-month plan (20% deposit + 6 monthly), or 12-month plan (30% deposit + 12 monthly, Full-Year only). Full breakdown lives on every team page.

What's the difference between the Miners tiers?

MS Travel (Miners 2032 Yellow and 2033 Yellow) is the biggest developmental window — technique, IQ, and identifying long-term travel players. Futures (Miners 2035 Futures) is the introduction pathway — technique, fun, and a light calendar that never conflicts with other sports. Families in the classes of 2028–2031 should reach out about the Team Carolina pathway.

My son plays another sport — does that disqualify him?

No. Multi-sport is the exception, not a disqualifier — tell us early and we'll work with your calendar. In the Full-Year program, multi-sport athletes attend Winter and Spring training around what fits their winter or spring sport — no penalty for missing. If it's easier, choose the Fall + Summer bundle instead: same team, no Winter/Spring commitment.

What happens if my son isn't offered a spot?

We'll be honest about fit. If Miners isn't the right home this year, we'll tell you — and point you to the CLA ecosystem or another option that fits better. No hard feelings, and no bad-faith offers just to fill a roster.
